Chu Yi followed to the bar and asked softly, "Why didn't you, didn't let me take the, the card over."
"Hmm?" Yan Hang looked puzzledly at him.
"You let, let Zhou Chunyang take it," Chu Yi said.
Yan Hang looked at him for two seconds then laughed, "You're not calling him Chunyang anymore?"
"I'm asking you," Chu Yi said.
"You don't want to ride in the same car as me?" Yan Hang said.
"Oh," Chu Yi paused. "I didn't think of that."
"Then what were you thinking?" Yan Hang asked with a smile.
"Get the flam, boyant one to handle flamboyant stuff," Chu Yi said. "If I went I wouldn't, wouldn't know what to, to say."
"You sure think far," Yan Hang looked at him amusedly.
“I'm also quite fashionable," Chu Yi clicked his tongue, "I even know how to take a plane."
"You're becoming more and more fashionable," Yan Hang nodded.
"We'll go downstairs and wait for you," Chu Yi said, "in the parking lot?"
"Okay," Yan Hang gave him the car keys, "you guys can get in the car first."
Da Qiang and Xiao Qiang were probably not done celebrating the New Year yet, they were a little excited at the moment to go singing. The two of them were already singing eagerly in the back seat.
Chu Yi sat in the passenger seat, spacing out at the street lights outside the window.
When he was talking to Yan Hang he was fine, but now alone, his mind kept thinking about his dad.
Is dad in the detention center now?
Has he eaten?
Have the police started interrogating him?
Grandpa and grandma don't know yet, how should I tell them?
When can family members visit?
Would mom go see dad?
What should I say when I see dad...
Yan Hang opened the door and got into the driver's seat. Only then did Chu Yi get startled and turn his head around, "You're here."
"Yeah," Yan Hang glanced at him, "let's go now."
The KTV Yan Hang booked was just as high-end as their restaurant.
The beautiful lady who led them to their room, Da Qiang and Xiao Qiang kept close behind her, trying to make small talk.
Chu Yi kept looking at the ground, the shiny marble floor made him feel like he could slip with every step.
Just as they approached their room, Chu Yi's phone rang.
Yan Hang turned around and asked, "Who is it?"
Chu Yi took out his phone and saw it was an unknown number. He frowned, then picked up, "Hello?"
His mom's familiar yet now strange sounding voice came through, "Do you know your dad got arrested?"
Chu Yi stopped dead in his tracks.
"You guys go in first and sing, order whatever you want, no need to worry about anything else," Yan Hang said, "I'll come with Chu Yi in a bit."
"Okay," Li Ziqiang nodded, "Hurry though, waiting to hear the birthday boy sing!"
"Yeah." Yan Hang smiled.
"I know," Chu Yi looked around, there were private room doors all around, occasionally he could hear singing coming from inside, sometimes people walked by too, making him a little nervous.
Yan Hang pulled him by the arm as they walked back a bit, into the restroom.
It became quiet all of a sudden.
"You can tell your grandpa's side, I don't want to say it," mom said.
"Okay," Chu Yi responded.
"Can you find out what's going on with him now?" Mom asked.
"How would I find out," Chu Yi sighed, he walked to the window. He didn't want Yan Hang to hear what he was talking to his mom about.
"What use are you?" Mom said.
"You're no use either," Chu Yi frowned, "How much more useful could I be?"
"Alright!" Mom raised her voice, "I just wanted to say, I won't deal with this, whoever wants to can!"
Then she hung up.
Chu Yi sighed and put his phone back in his pocket. He turned around to look at Yan Hang.
He tried hard to make it seem like nothing was wrong, but he couldn't, he couldn't even force a smile to say "let's go sing."
Yan Hang didn't say anything either, he just opened his arms.
Chu Yi hesitated, then went over and hugged him tightly.
"It's okay," Yan Hang said softly as he held him.
"You knew, didn't you," Chu Yi rested his chin on Yan Hang's shoulder.
"Even if I didn't know I could guess," Yan Hang said, "With you, I could feel the vibration from your fart from 10 miles away."
"Then my butt must be a live volcano," Chu Yi said.
"Ah," Yan Hang laughed softly.
Chu Yi laughed with him.
After laughing for a bit, he turned to look at Yan Hang, "Why didn't you say anything?"
"It's most important that our Mutt has a happy birthday," Yan Hang said.
Chu Yi didn't respond. He stared at Yan Hang for a bit, then suddenly hooked his arm around Yan Hang's neck and kissed him hard on the lips.
It seemed like their teeth clashed again.
But neither seemed to care too much. Yan Hang paused briefly before swiftly meeting him, his tongue sliding over Chu Yi's lips.
Amidst the excitement, Chu Yi remembered the slap from before in time.
He opened his mouth.
The moment Yan Hang's tongue probed in, it was like a fire was lit in Chu Yi's lower abdomen.
