Chapter 148 - Test Flight Part 2

"But Fourth Brother, you look even more handsome in Air Force uniform than in Army uniform!" Shi Jin became excited again, pulling Xiang Aoting up and circling around him like a little dog. He reached out and touched his shoulder patch, his eyes shining as he asked, "Fourth Brother, did you fly here? When did you arrive?"

"I arrived last night, but I was afraid you were asleep so I didn't come to find you," replied Xiang Aoting. Seeing his excitement, a smile appeared on his face as he asked, "Do you want to go see it?"

"See what, the airplane?"

Shi Jin's eyes lit up and he was so excited that he forgot to eat breakfast. "Yes, yes, yes! Can you take me for a ride? I've never seen someone fly a plane up close before!"

"Sure, but we can only fly once."

"Fourth Brother, you're amazing!" Shi Jin cheered and was ready to go.

Xiang Aoting quickly grabbed him and said, "Let's eat something first. You'll feel sick flying on an empty stomach."

Shi Jin rushed to the restaurant to order two buns and a bottle of yogurt. He ate while running back to Xiang Aoting, pulling him along eagerly. Xiang Aoting couldn't resist and followed him.

Crack. Sitting across from Xiang Aoting, Li Jiuzheng had been ignored by Shi Jin the whole time as he finished his drink and bit down on a piece of ice from his cup.

"Nice teeth," commented Fei Yujing, who was sitting next to him and also being ignored by Shi Jin.

Li Jiuzheng frowned and picked up a fork to poke at the grapes in the fruit platter.

Watching these two brothers who seemed to be surrounded by a cold wind, Number Two smirked and turned to follow Shi Jin as he left.

......

The official ship was quite large, and the plane that Xiang Aoting had come in on was parked on the spacious aft deck. It was an armed helicopter that was much larger than a regular one, with a dark green body and a number and military flag printed on it.

"I thought it would be a fighter jet," Shi Jin said, a little disappointed. Opening the helicopter's cabin, Xiang Aoting said, "Fighter jets can't be taken out casually, and they can't carry passengers. It's the same with this one. Come here, I'll help you put on the helmet and equipment."

Shi Jin sighed with regret, "How could they be the same..." But then he quickly became excited at the thought of watching Xiang Aoting fly the helicopter up close. He obediently leaned over to let him put on the equipment.

Armed helicopters are different from regular ones. There are only two positions inside, arranged in a front and back staircase. Xiang Aoting arranged for Shi Jin to sit in the back position, fastened his safety belt, and then sat in the front, closing the cabin door and putting on his own safety equipment.

He said, "Don't move around. If you feel uncomfortable, tell me immediately and I'll fly back and land." With a quick response, Shi Jin's hands were shaking with excitement - a plane, a real plane, and Xiang Aoting could actually fly it!

With Xiang Aoting's skilled operation, the plane's dashboard lit up, the sound of the wings rotating came through the cabin wall, and then a slight shaking followed, the feeling of floating rising, and the plane lifted off, the view gradually rising.

Holy crap! It's flying! It's really flying!

Shi Jin was so excited that he stared at the back of Xiang Aoting's helmet, then looked at the gradually approaching sky and the shrinking ships, so excited that he wanted to howl three times to the sky.

"Sit tight, we're going to accelerate." The sound of the plane engine reached Xiang Aoting's ears as it gradually lifted off and soared towards the sky. After reaching a certain altitude, it stopped ascending and began circling around the sea. Through the monitoring screen, Shi Jin looked down and saw the officials' ship parked quietly next to the sunken ship, while a dozen or so small and medium-sized organization ships were slowly adjusting their positions further out.

"This view is amazing," Shi Jin couldn't help but exclaim.

Xiang Aoting's lips curled up as he said, "I'll take you to see even further."

The plane lifted off again and flew towards a more distant location. As Shi Jin looked at the vast sky and boundless sea, he felt his heart open up and a refreshing feeling washed over him. "There's a ship coming, and it's a big one," said Xiang Aoting suddenly.

Shi Jin snapped out of his excitement and looked ahead. With the help of his telescope, he could indeed see a large ship approaching the designated meeting area at a steady pace.

"It should be a ship from a major organization," he said, not too surprised. "Today is the last day before the conference, and most of the organizations' ships will be present."

"Let's go take a look," Xiang Aoting flew towards the ship. When he reached a height where he could clearly see the vessel, he paused for a moment before flying off in another direction.

Shi Jin couldn't help but laugh out loud. As he got closer, he used his Thousand-Mile Eye buff to discover that the ship below was actually the Tarantula's, and Lu Shan was standing on the deck, looking straight at him with a satellite phone in her hand. Her mouth clearly formed the words "Holy crap."

He quickly amplified his hearing and heard Lu Shan's voice intermittently saying, "What the hell is this... Meng Qing, there's an armed helicopter hovering over my head. Do you have one on your end? What is the government doing? Patrol? Surveillance?"

Meng Qing? The leader of the Meridian Gate?

Shi Jin's mind raced as he wanted to listen more carefully to Lu Shan's conversation, but the distance between the plane and the Tarantula ship had already widened, and he couldn't distinguish the voices anymore.

Upon hearing his laughter, Xiang Aoting asked, "What's so funny?"

Shi Jin snapped out of his thoughts and quickly gathered himself before replying, "Nothing much, just that looking down from above, those ships all look like toys, it's quite amusing."

Like toys...he's really still a child. Xiang Aoting smiled faintly as he increased the speed of the helicopter and flew towards the front.

Afterwards, the two of them saw other organization ships approaching the officials' ship one after another. They approached each one, took a look, and then teased them before flying away. It was quite annoying. It took them over an hour to complete the circle that Xiang Aoting had mentioned earlier before they finally flew back to the officials' ship and landed.

By now, several armed helicopters had appeared on the deck, each with a person in Air Force uniform standing next to it. Liu Zhenjun also appeared on the deck, buried in a document he was flipping through. As soon as they got off the plane, Xiang Aoting stepped ahead of everyone and then helped Shi Jin down.

Liu Zhenjun immediately put down his documents and leaned over, asking, "Colonel Xiang, how was the test flight?"

"Not bad," Xiang Aoting replied, turning to look at his team and counting them before turning back to Liu Zhenjun and asking, "Why is the Admiral here? Is there something you need?"

Of course there was something. Liu Zhenjun looked at Shi Jin and asked, "Mr. Shi, how did you end up on Colonel Xiang's plane?"

Shi Jin hadn't spoken yet, but Xiang Aoting explained for him, "I invited him. The test flight was a bit boring, and it's nice to have someone to talk to and pass the time."

Talk to pass the time? The team members brought by Xiang Aoting all had a reaction when they heard the invitation, turning their heads to look at Shi Jin with curious and ambiguous eyes - the captain took the initiative to invite him... tsk tsk tsk...

Shi Jin felt his hairs stand on end from being stared at, and turned his head to give them a glance. He caught sight of a clearly large organization's ship docking towards them, and had an idea. He deliberately reached out and put his hand on Xiang Aoting's shoulder, raising his voice to say, "Fourth Brother, I'm hungry. It's time for lunch."

"Mr. Shi." Liu Zhenjun's vision went a little dark as he reminded Shi Jin. Although he had heard from Zhang Zhuoyuan that the deputy leader sent by the Annihilation this year was a young brat with a complicated background and completely lacking in manners, he was not prepared for this level of insolence.

"Can't you see the occasion and how many people are watching? A deputy leader of a criminal organization is actually cozying up to the Air Force commander, what kind of talk is this? Although I heard that this deputy leader is related to Colonel Xiang...that just makes things even more complicated! A deputy leader of a criminal organization and an Air Force commander are relatives...oh my god, this is insane. Why did the Air Force even let Colonel Xiang come over? My head hurts."

Shi Jin turned his head when he heard someone calling him and warmly invited, "Admiral Liu, are you hungry too? Why don't you come join us and bring Director Zhang along, let's all have a good meal together."

Rubbing and rubbing... Liu Zhenjun's forehead bulged with veins, almost unable to resist scolding him like a disobedient recruit. He lowered his voice and reminded, "Mr. Shi, I remember you were an excellent student in the police academy. Perhaps your style of doing things... could be more steady." So please don't be so inappropriate!

However, Shi Jin immediately misunderstood his meaning, withdrew his hand and stood at attention, giving Liu Zhenjun a standard military salute and loudly saying, "Yes, Admiral! The student will remember your teachings!"

Clattering sounds echoed as everyone around who heard this sentence looked over, staring at Shi Jin's standard military salute with eyes wider than copper bells. Liu Zhenjun felt like he was having a heart attack. He slowly released the military salute he had been holding and spoke through gritted teeth, "Mr. Shi, here you represent the enemy. Please forget your identity as a police academy student for now. Thank you for your cooperation."

What was even more terrifying than the fact that the deputy leader of the criminal organization was related to an air force general was the fact that the deputy leader was actually a legitimate police academy student!

Was Shen Jin really that foolish or was he pretending to be?

What was the purpose of sending such a person to attend the meeting, and why did Lian Jun agree to it?

"Admiral, why are you in such a hurry? It's well known that Annihilation and the government are allies. I am an important link between them, so you can relax a bit," said Shi Jin as he suddenly reached out and lightly patted Liu Zhenjun's shoulder in a cooperative gesture. He subtly pointed his finger towards the large ship that had already stopped behind them, then gestured towards Xiang Aoting and said, "Fourth Brother, let's go eat. Afterward, I'll teach you how to play mahjong."

Xiang Aoting responded with a nod and took off his helmet.

Shi Jin also casually greeted Xiang Aoting's team members with a smile and said, "Why don't you all come along too? Fourth Brother praised you guys while test flying just now, and I'm curious about your combat experience."

The captain actually praised people? Wait a minute, Fourth Brother? The members of Xiang Aoting's team were all surprised when they saw Xiang Aoting, who seemed to be in a much better mood today and had softened his demeanor. They then looked at Shi Jin and quickly accepted his invitation, curious to see what was going on.

On the back deck, only Liu Zhenjun was left. He frowned as he watched Shi Jin and Xiang Aoting leave together. He glanced back at the silver ship belonging to Thousand Leaves and thought about Shi Jin's behavior just now. Was it intentional?

He walked in the direction that Shi Jin had left, his furrowed brow slowly relaxing. After all, someone who was not well-behaved could not have won first place in both the police academy and military training.
