Chapter 38 - Chapter 22 Part 3

A short while later, the final quarter began.

Listening to the sounds from inside, Zhou Wan's heart also swelled with excitement. At the end, a long, loud whistle cut through the dusk, and the entire gymnasium was overturned by screams. She could also hear the voices of many girls shouting Lu Xixiao's name.

Five minutes later, people started to come out one after another.

Every single person who came out was marveling at how exciting the game had been.

Zhou Wan waited for a while before Gu Meng finally appeared.

"Wanwan? Why didn't you come back for the second half? I thought you went back to the classroom," Gu Meng said, running over to link arms with her. "Was your stomach really bothering you?"

Zhou Wan fiddled with her hair and gave a vague "Mm-hmm."

"Do you need to go to the hospital?"

"No need, it's fine now."

Gu Meng wanted to touch her forehead but saw the wound under her bangs. She jumped in fright and pushed her hair aside, "What happened to you!?"

"I just fell. It's nothing, it doesn't hurt."

"How can it not hurt with a gash this big?"

Zhou Wan smiled, lips pursed, "It only hurt for a moment when I fell."

"You should be more careful. Are you hurt anywhere else?"

"I'm fine."

Zhou Wan forced herself to act as if she hadn't twisted her ankle, not wanting Gu Meng to find out.

Gu Meng held her arm. "It's such a shame you didn't watch just now! You have no idea how cool Lu Xixiao was!"

"Did they win?"

"They won! By eight points! Those beasts from 18th High School played very hastily after halftime, too recklessly. They couldn't guard Lu Xixiao, and he took the opportunity to score a lot of points."

No wonder the screams were so intense just now.

Zhou Wan lowered her head and chuckled softly.

Suddenly, a deep, magnetic voice came from behind her.

"Zhou Wan." Lu Xixiao called out to her.

She turned her head.

The boy had thrown his jacket directly over his red jersey. He looked wild, the zipper open, his body still covered in sweat. Bathed in the dusk sunlight filtering into the corridor, he strode toward her.

Gu Meng immediately nudged Zhou Wan, winked desperately at her, and threw out a "I'll get going," before quickly running off.

Lu Xixiao walked up beside her. "Your friend is pretty tactful."

"..."

Zhou Wan touched the few strands of hair at her temple.

"I won," he said.

Zhou Wan couldn't help but smile. "I know."

"The guys are going to get something to eat later." He took out a pack of cigarettes, pulled one out, and twirled it between his fingers. "Coming?"

Zhou Wan paused. "I still have to go to the Arcade, so I won't go."

The wind was always disobedient.

A draft blew through the entire corridor, messing up Zhou Wan's hair.

Lu Xixiao's gaze moved from her eyes to her forehead, and his brows furrowed. Zhou Wan's heart sank. It's over.

"How did this happen?" His voice deepened.

"I fell."

That lie might have fooled Gu Meng, but it couldn't fool Lu Xixiao.

"A fall can cause an injury like this?" he sneered. "Tell the truth."

Zhou Wan pressed her lips together, not speaking.

Lu Xixiao suddenly exploded with anger. When he was truly furious, he didn't care about saving face for anyone. "Who the fuck did this!"

Zhou Wan was silent for two seconds, then told the truth, "Luo He."

He curled his lips into a cold smirk and nodded. "Alright."

The unlit cigarette was thrown to the ground and mercilessly stomped on. Lu Xixiao turned and strode away, his movements creating a gust of wind.

Luo He and his group happened to be coming out after changing their clothes, walking toward them.

Lu Xixiao didn't slow his pace. With a grim face, he punched Luo He without any warning.

He used his full strength. Luo He staggered, nearly falling, and instantly tasted rust in his mouth. Half of his face went numb, completely devoid of feeling.

The next second, before anyone around them could react, Lu Xixiao grabbed Luo He by the neck and slammed him against the wall. The veins on his arm looked ready to burst, and Luo He's heels lifted off the ground.

His eyes were so cold it was as if he wasn't looking at a living thing.

"Luo He, what the hell do you think you are?"

He relentlessly tightened his grip. Luo He couldn't even breathe, looking so wretched for the first time.

Lu Xixiao's eyes were bloodshot as he enunciated each word, "You dare to touch my person."
