Chapter 87 - Day 8 of Raising a Cub in the Interstellar Part 2

In their minds, it was best if no one ever wanted that unlucky Kaka beast that had hatched. If it found an adoptive family with power and influence, it might come back for revenge on them.

-- Who knew if that human named Su Duan had instilled any feelings detrimental to them in the cub.

So while accompanying this adoptive person, who was clearly a big shot, in touring the orphanage, the two of them were working hard to promote other cubs to him.

The gray-eyed beastman listened patiently on the surface, occasionally reaching out to pet those cubs as they introduced them, but a hint of impatience had already flashed in his eyes.

All the cubs in this entire orphanage combined didn't interest him as much as that previous "fellow" cub.

After all, the opportunity to acquire a cub of that race and do whatever he wanted with it... couldn't exactly be called plentiful.

If it weren't for keeping up appearances and avoiding suspicion... he would have dragged that cub back to his starship long ago.

By lunchtime, he finally couldn't restrain himself from expressing his desire to see that cub again.

However, after asking around, the old dean's expression became a bit odd. He quickly adjusted and showed an apologetic look. "Sorry, Viji is a bit naughty and has run off to hide somewhere. When we find it, we'll send you a message, alright?"

In fact, not only was Viji missing, even that human named Su Duan was gone. A bad premonition surfaced in his heart...

He hoped he was just being paranoid.

The old dean thought worriedly that no matter what, he had to brush off this adoptive person's request for now.

However, the adoptive person in front of him was exceptionally perceptive. Just from his slightly unusual expression, he had guessed some of the truth.

"Missing?" For an instant, his expression seemed a bit ferocious, a hint of gloom flashing through his gray pupils. Taking a deep breath, he said, "Sorry, I have to leave."

He wanted to see where that cub could run off to.

......

After flying for eight hours, the starship landed on Planet Firo.

Planet Firo was also considered a frontier planet. The entire planet seemed a bit desolate except for the transport port. Su Duan checked the bus schedule. The soonest starship to the capital star was in five hours, so he planned to find a place to rest first.

The transportation on this planet was quite problematic. After having the system book the nearest hotel, Su Duan walked out of the transport port and waited in the wilderness for ten minutes without a single vehicle arriving.

With no other choice, Su Duan had to walk. His blood scent was too strong, so he didn't dare feed Viji out in the wild.

Fortunately, that hotel wasn't too far, about a forty-minute walk away.

Su Duan walked slowly along the road. Even though his pace wasn't fast, due to his extremely weak body, and carrying a cub weighing a dozen pounds in his arms, he quickly started panting.

Viji sensed his fatigue and struggled, wanting to get down and walk on its own, but Su Duan didn't feel at ease letting it stay on the ground and refused to let go no matter what.

Just as Su Duan was walking on the road, his whole body a bit dizzy, a sharp electronic alert suddenly sounded in his mind:

"Beep beep! Danger warning! The system has detected danger approaching. An adult Spinosaurus is rapidly nearing. It is recommended that the host first use a 'pill', then purchase an 'upgraded super strength spinach' to avoid danger!"

An adult Spinosaurus -- it had caught up so quickly?!

Su Duan was stunned for a moment. Then, an energy fluctuation flashed before his eyes, and an invisible shield appeared not far in front of him.

It was an energy shield that could isolate images, sounds, and smells. Within its coverage, no matter what happened inside, people outside would not be able to detect it. It was a high-end technological achievement possessed by very few - the system quickly provided an explanation.

The owner of this energy shield soon appeared. Su Duan turned his head to look, and unsurprisingly saw the gray-eyed beastman who had just descended from the starship. He had caught a glimpse of him from afar when they were at the orphanage.

This ferocious Spinosaurus had shed its benevolent disguise. The aura of a top predator spread within the energy shield, crushing down like a blade, carrying an undeniable bloody smell.

Under such immense pressure, Su Duan quickly began to gasp for breath, his eardrums buzzing, and the blood in his entire body almost stopped flowing.

-- But he still remembered to maintain the strength in his arms, not letting Viji fall from his embrace.

The cub in his arms had also sensed the danger. Its pupils rapidly expanded into circles, its fur standing on end, and its throat continuously emitting threatening low growls.

However, although it belonged to the most powerful race in this empire, it was currently too weak. This level of threat was far from being taken seriously. Instead, it caused the beastman to release even more pressure.

A muffled groan escaped from above, and warm liquid fell onto its paws.

-- Due to the excessive pressure, Su Duan's internal organs had begun to rupture, fresh blood flowing from the corner of his mouth. The strength in his arms finally could not be maintained and started to slacken.

The bright red blood on the black front paws was particularly eye-catching. The scorching temperature seemed to burn through its paws. The heart of the Luota cub began to beat wildly--

If it could be stronger, a bit stronger, would it be able to protect its prey?

In this instant, the Luota cub suddenly began to uncontrollably hate itself for being unwilling to grow up and secretly hiding its energy...

The arms holding it had gradually lost strength. The Luota cub swallowed all the energy it had accumulated over two years in one go, not caring whether its body could withstand such a sudden growth--

The beastman who had followed his prey retracted his pressure. His gray eyes flashed with a cruel meaning as he slowly walked towards Su Duan, as if toying with him, savoring the desperate state of the two prey before him. He said in a hoarse voice, "A clever pure human, and a rare... Luota beast."

Su Duan's heart thumped violently. "..." Sure enough, this beastman had guessed Viji's identity.

"...Both very delicious." The beastman concluded. As he walked, he muttered, "Strange, why is the smell of your blood so enticing? My blood is practically boiling..." In his impression, although the blood of pure humans was delicious, it had not reached the effect of making one's blood boil upon smelling it.

Could this be another surprise?

Seeing the beastman getting closer and closer, Su Duan finally made up his mind and said to the system with a pained heart, "Help me buy an upgraded version of the spi--"

An "upgraded version of the super strength spinach" was an item unlocked when the mall was upgraded to level two. After using it, one could temporarily obtain the strongest power in this world. It could be said to be a divine artifact for fighting.

But matching its powerful effects was its price of three hundred experience points.

Plus the "pills" that could adjust his physical condition to the best, it would be five hundred points.

Thinking that in order to kill this Spinosaurus, he had to use items worth a whopping five hundred experience points, the poor little herb couldn't help but feel heartbroken.

His total assets were just over a thousand experience points, and now nearly a third of it was gone in one go!

...He never wanted to see beastmen like Spinosaurus again in this life!

However, before he could finish speaking, the cub in his arms suddenly struggled violently.

This time the struggling force was extremely great, to an almost terrifying degree. Su Duan, who was already overwhelmed by the Spinosaurus's pressure, failed to catch it, and the cub fell to the ground.

Then, before his eyes, the Luota cub that had fallen to the ground let out a low roar that did not match its age. Its body expanded at a speed that was fast to the point of being bizarre--

An aura that was even more domineering and sharp than the Spinosaurus's smell, belonging to an adult Luota beast, spread throughout the energy shield.
