Chapter 47

Jealousy

In his past life, Chu Sui could basically be described as a shut-in. He had been cut off from information for too long, not even watching the news. It was already a rare feat for him to know about Alvin, so how could he possibly know who the other two leaders of the Freedom Alliance were? He racked his brains but couldn't figure it out, and in the end, he had no choice but to give up.

Chu Sui pulled his wandering thoughts back. Feeling a lack of security, he couldn't help but ask Arno, "That friend of yours from last time, which army is he in?"

The topic jumped too quickly. Arno hadn't yet reacted. "Friend?"

Chu Sui: "Alvin."

Hearing this, Arno glanced at him, somewhat puzzled as to why Chu Sui would suddenly ask this. He paused before saying, "Male Master, he serves in the Third Army."

Chu Sui said, "Oh," and didn't ask anything further. He let go of Arno and continued working at his Light Computer. As he entered information into the database, he still felt the verdict of the last case was not very humane. He suddenly wanted to know what Arno thought about it and clumsily organized his words: "Don't you think... the verdict in this case wasn't very good?"

Chu Sui didn't actually want to appear too different from other Male Zergs, but unfortunately, he had never even passed elementary school language arts. Asking him to be subtle was truly difficult for him.

Upon hearing this, Arno glanced at the document on the desk. Just by seeing the two familiar names at the beginning, he already knew which matter Chu Sui was asking about. A pair of hands gently landed on Chu Sui's shoulders, silently massaging them for him. "This matter caused a huge commotion. The Military Department's high command held a special meeting, and it was all over the StarNet..."

Arno's voice sounded very calm, but since he was standing behind him, Chu Sui couldn't see his expression. Pity? Anger? Sympathy? Or was it the sorrow of seeing one's own kind suffer?

Chu Sui remembered that he hadn't answered his question. "Do you think the verdict is reasonable?"

He seemed desperate to confirm whether it was this country that was abnormal, or himself.

Hearing this, Arno's movements of massaging his shoulders paused. He seemed to want to say something, but remained silent for a long time. He could neither say "reasonable" nor "unreasonable."

The former was due to his conscience, while the latter was because the law was the law.

Arno slowly lowered his gaze. "Male Master, this is our fate..."

The "our" he spoke of did not refer to him and Chu Sui, but to him and all the Military Females. This fate seemed to have vaguely destined the battlefield to be their best final resting place.

But upon hearing this, Chu Sui suddenly became angry. "Say that again?"

He glared, his anger obvious. Arno's heart tightened, and he almost subconsciously wanted to kneel and beg for forgiveness, but then he heard Chu Sui say, "I haven't hit you in a long time!"

Arno was taken aback. He raised his eyes to look at him and saw Chu Sui frowning as he counted with extreme seriousness, "One, two, three... I can't count anymore, but anyway, I haven't hit you in many days."

He hadn't hit Arno for a long time now, so how could he let him end up as miserable as that Male Monarch who had his Zerg Wings torn off?

He wouldn't, of course he wouldn't.

Chu Sui felt he had improved a lot, but Arno seemed completely unaware. It was like a child who studied hard and got a perfect score on a test, only for his parents to show no reaction. He felt like his efforts were in vain, and he was visibly sullen.

Another person might have found it difficult to understand his meaning, but Arno understood in an instant. His body slowly slid down until he was half-kneeling in front of Chu Sui. This time, however, it wasn't to beg for forgiveness, but simply to get a good look at his face.

The scarcity of males and abundance of females had destined the system of this society to be unfair. Male Zergs were like God's failed creations—arrogant and domineering, greedy and cruel, holding themselves high and mighty. Other than siring offspring and soothing Female Zergs with Pheromones, they served no purpose.

Arno had never held any expectations for entering a partnership. He had foreseen his own future from a very early age, but was powerless to change anything. He could only numbly follow the arrangements, detached and rigid.

If his Male Master told him to kneel, he would kneel. If his Male Master wanted to flog him with instruments of torture, he would not offer any resistance.

You could say that he received the soothing Pheromones of a Male Zerg and successfully survived, or you could say that he had stepped into a new grave, awaiting death in another sense.

But Chu Sui...

His Male Master,

Chu Sui...

Arno slowly closed his eyes, unable to stop himself from recalling many things—battlefields filled with the smoke of gunpowder, alien planets littered with corpses. But the memories that remained in the end were all related to the Male Zerg before him. He opened his eyes, and his pale blue irises were no longer cold, but like a tranquil and deep ocean, carrying the warmth of melted frost.

"Yes, you are different from them..."

Arno's voice was always so low, gentle, and soft. He smoothed Chu Sui's furrowed brow, not wanting to see the Male Zerg looking sullen. He smiled and said seriously, "It is my good fortune to be partnered with you."

But most Military Females were not so lucky.

'According to that logic, weren't you just terribly unlucky in your past life?' Chu Sui thought. But his mood had finally improved a tiny bit. He tossed the file he had just finished entering into a corner and muttered in disgust, "What kind of bullshit verdict is this."

Arno glanced at him. "Do you think this verdict is not good?"

Chu Sui retorted, "Do you think it's good?"

Arno's figure stiffened slightly. This time, he didn't avoid his question, but slowly shook his head.

'So there are normal people after all,' Chu Sui thought. 'It's not just me who thinks this way.' He got up from his seat, pulled Arno up from the floor, and prepared to go to bed. "Well, there you have it."

Young people have strong kidneys, so some intimacy at night was inevitable. Chu Sui wrapped his arms around Arno from behind, tilting his head to kiss his long, fair neck. He saw the Zerg Pattern that had appeared last time resurface, glowing with a faint golden light, mysterious and magnificent, like some ancient totem, but it disappeared after a short while.

Arno's clothes were not completely removed; a white shirt hung loosely on his body. His blue eyes briefly lost focus. Influenced by Chu Sui, he was already aroused, panting as he tried to find the Male Zerg, but his position was restricted, and he couldn't see Chu Sui.

Arno wanted to turn around, his voice low and hoarse as he pleaded, "Male Master..."

But Chu Sui didn't let him have his way. His gaze swept over the smooth lines of his back, as if searching for something. Finally, he found two faint red marks on his shoulder blades and asked, "Are these your Zerg Wings?"

He had long heard that Female Zergs had Zerg Wings, but he had never seen them before.

'No wonder he didn't want to change positions, he was studying this.' Arno heard the curiosity in his tone, his body trembling slightly from a ticklish sensation. He said in a low voice, "Yes..."

Chu Sui's eyes lit up. "Let me see?"

'As expected...'

Arno instinctively turned his head to look at him, only to see Chu Sui leaning in with great interest, a pair of beautiful and arrogant eyes staring intently at him. The tips of his ears inexplicably burned hot. A strand of silver hair fell across his forehead, the red at the corners of his eyes yet to fade. After a long while, he gave a barely perceptible nod.

In the Zerg Race, only Female Zergs had wings. On the battlefield, their wings were sharper than blades and could reap an enemy's life in an instant. At this moment, Arno's wings slowly unfurled. They were translucent with faint patterns, somewhat resembling dragonfly wings. Upon closer inspection, they were iridescent and stunningly beautiful.

Because he held no hostility towards Chu Sui, they felt semi-soft to the touch and would not cause any harm.

With the heart of a rigorous scholar, Chu Sui carefully examined Arno's wings from top to bottom, even reaching out to touch them a couple of times. Just as he was about to say something, he saw a light blush suddenly spread rapidly across Arno's originally cold, pale body, as if he were sick. He subconsciously pulled his hand back and asked, "Does it hurt a lot?"

Chu Sui looked puzzled; he hadn't used much force.

Arno managed to shake his head, his eyes turning a little red from the stimulation. He only felt that wherever Chu Sui had touched, the sensation was magnified countless times. It was hard to say whether it was a tickle or something else, so he could only endure it in silence.

The moment he shook his head, Chu Sui looked as if he had discovered a new continent and asked in confusion, "Why is your face red?"

Chu Sui didn't know that Arno's Zerg Wings had never been touched by anyone, including himself.

Seeing that Chu Sui had finally had his fill of looking, Arno slowly retracted his Zerg Wings. Not wanting the Male Zerg to continue questioning him on this topic, his blue eyes were veiled with a layer of mist, silently exuding a captivating charm. He took the initiative to kiss Chu Sui's lips, tracelessly stealing the remaining air, leaving the other party no room to think about these things.

Chu Sui was weak-willed and easily succumbed to pleasure. Seeing this, he did indeed cast the previous question to the back of his mind. Only in the gaps between breaths did he press his forehead against Arno's and say, "You're really bold. Aren't you afraid I'll snip your Zerg Wings off?"

As he spoke, he moved his index and middle fingers, deliberately making a scissor gesture to scare him.

Male Zergs didn't have Zerg Wings. Some with twisted minds would specifically strip off a Female Zerg's wings to collect them. Chu Sui didn't know if this was true—he had only heard about it, anyway—but since such a rumor existed, it was most likely true.

Hearing this, Arno looked at him, his short silver hair scattered on the pillow. "Then would you?"

Chu Sui really didn't have that kind of fetish, but he just liked to be unreasonable. He muttered, "How do you know I wouldn't? Maybe I want to cut them off and collect them?"

Arno rested against his shoulder, slowly calming down from the afterglow. His fingertips silently combed through Chu Sui's ink-black hair. Hearing his words, he said in a low voice, "If you like, I would be more than happy."

Hmm?

Chu Sui's eyelid twitched, and he subconsciously looked at Arno. "For real?"

Arno looked at him. "I am willing to offer you my life..."

During the partnership ceremony, every Female Zerg would swear this oath. Of course, whether it was sincere or out of necessity was debatable. Hearing it again today, Chu Sui felt a subtle sensation in his heart.

He didn't press the matter further, only saying, "I was just tricking you. I'm not interested in wings."

After speaking, Chu Sui closed his eyes to sleep. Arno glanced at him, rustled as he turned over in the darkness, lowered his gaze, and silently moved closer. Seeing no reaction from the other, he then reached out and hugged Chu Sui's waist with a gentle force.

Chu Sui seemed to sense it. He drowsily turned over with his eyes closed, then habitually pulled him into his arms, snuggled against him, and became still.

Many Military Females would never receive a single kiss, or even a hug, from their Male Master in their entire lives. Things like this had never stirred the slightest ripple in Arno's heart before, and he too felt he didn't need them. But when he truly received them, he found he had no resistance at all.

The lifespan of the Zerg Race was too long. Most of their time was spent constantly moving forward, treading across battlefields filled with the smoke of war, and traversing wastelands littered with skeletons, to the point that they forgot they should have stopped to rest long ago.

The following days proceeded in an orderly fashion. Chu Sui also finally began to adapt to the terrible food in the Military Department's cafeteria. He hadn't been working for long before everyone knew that a handsome Male Zerg recorder had come to the clerical department. Many Military Females would pretend to pass by in the hallway and then secretly watch him work through the window.

Heaven knows the hallway on the 32nd floor used to be empty enough to race horses in, but now it was so crowded with Zergs it was overflowing. It was a hell of a sight. These were Como's exact words.

The timid Military Females only dared to peek, while the bold ones directly offered themselves to him. Every day, two or three would deliberately strike up a conversation. Chu Sui rejected them all without exception. Although his kidneys were strong, handling one Arno was just right; handling two would be a struggle.

Especially those burly guys who were taller than him, had bigger fists, and were built like nine-foot iron towers.

During lunch break this day, Chu Sui went to the cafeteria to eat as usual. Sure enough, he saw Arno also sitting inside. The first or second time, he thought it was a coincidence, but after it happened more often, he started to see a pattern. Carrying his food tray, he walked straight over and sat down opposite him.

Arno was about to stand up when Chu Sui said, "Stay seated. All this getting up and sitting down, if you don't find it troublesome, I do."

After speaking, Chu Sui propped his chin on his hand, his eyes fixed on him, his fingertips tapping lightly on the table as if waiting for something. Seeing this, Arno smiled and opened the lunch box beside him. "It's dessert today. I wonder if you'll like it."

He made a special meal for Chu Sui every day, either dessert or fruit. It was possibly a special supply for the higher-ups; in any case, it was different every day.

Chu Sui wasn't a picky eater anymore. He picked up a piece of dessert for Arno, then ate one himself. "It's alright. Better than the cafeteria."

He could never seem to say anything nice, but that didn't stop other Female Zergs from being envious, jealous, and hateful of Arno—the kind where their eyes turned green with it.

Arno just watched him with a smile. Just as he was about to say something, someone called his name from not far away. Following the sound, he saw a red-haired Military Female being led this way by Adjutant Fedi. It was none other than Alvin, who had left for a mission not long ago.

"Major General Arno, you certainly know how to find a quiet spot."

Alvin had been looking for him for a long time, only to find him eating in the cafeteria. He couldn't help but tease him a bit. As soon as the words left his mouth, he noticed Chu Sui sitting opposite and couldn't help but show his surprise. He quickly recovered, placed his right hand on his left shoulder, and saluted. "Your Excellency Chu Sui, long time no see. My apologies, I didn't mean to disturb your meal."

Chu Sui hadn't expected to run into this god of death just by having a meal. His feet shifted slightly, and he subconsciously wanted to leave, but then he thought this was a good opportunity to get closer. He barely suppressed the urge to slip away. "It's fine. If you haven't eaten, why don't you sit down and join us."

His mind was filled with the words "get closer," and his attitude could be described as courteous.

Alvin didn't think too much of it. After all, he had a good impression of Chu Sui from their last meeting. Hearing his offer, he hesitated for a moment, then sat down opposite them. If Arno was ice, then he was fire; they seemed to be two extremes. "Then it would be rude to refuse."

Chu Sui was not a hospitable person, so this was clearly out of character for him. Arno seemed to sense something and glanced at him, then at Alvin beside him, and said in an emotionless tone, "Don't you only drink Nutrient Solution?"

The implication was, the cafeteria isn't for you.

Alvin spread his hands and smiled slightly. "Aren't you the same?"

'If you can come to the cafeteria, why can't I?'

Fedi stood to the side, looking at Chu Sui, then at Alvin, and finally at Arno. He inexplicably felt that although his Major General's expression was as faint as ever, his mood was clearly not good. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow to himself.

'Oho.'

'I told you to keep a closer watch, lest your Male Master be snatched away by some little vixen. Look at you now, can't even smile, can you?'

Fedi secretly slipped away. After all, he was the one who had brought Alvin over; he didn't want the flames of war to spread to him later.

Compared to Arno's cold personality, Alvin was clearly much more at ease. He took the initiative to start a conversation to prevent an awkward silence. "I was ordered to clean up the Alien Beasts on Carlo Star some time ago. I didn't expect that by the time I returned, Your Excellency Chu Sui would already be serving in the Military Department. Truly young and promising."

Psychological trauma wasn't so easy to overcome. Seeing Alvin chatting and laughing, Chu Sui always remembered how in his past life, he had shot that Male Zerg, splattering his brains and blood on the spot. He still felt a bit scared, relying entirely on his will to survive to persevere. "I can't compare to Major General Alvin fighting on the front lines. He is a hero of The Empire."

Alvin was actually not easy to read. He seemed to have a smile on his face, but it didn't reach his eyes. And if one observed carefully, they would find that he held no reverence for Male Zergs. "I'll take that as a good omen. I'll be promoted to Lieutenant General soon."

He was one of the leaders of the Freedom Alliance. The higher his position, the greater his power, and the easier it would be to overthrow the system in the future. Moreover, he was about the same age as Arno and was already becoming a Lieutenant General. This was true youth and promise.

'This is really bad news,' Chu Sui thought, chatting with him half-heartedly. He didn't notice that Arno had been silent the whole time. After finally finishing the meal, the Light Computer on Alvin's wrist suddenly beeped. It seemed to be something urgent, and it was even flashing a red light. He inconspicuously covered it with his sleeve, stood up, and said to Chu Sui with a smile, "My apologies, there's an urgent matter in the army. I must take my leave."

After speaking, he looked at Arno again. "There's been progress on the matter I spoke to you about last time. The detailed information will be sent to your StarNet account."

Only then did he leave.

Chu Sui watched his back gradually disappear, then picked up the cup beside him and chugged some water. He touched his back and found it covered in cold sweat. 'This kind of thing really isn't for humans,' he thought. 'Trying to get close to him like this two more times would probably shorten my life by ten years.'

He was full. He stood up from his seat and said to Arno, "Let's go."

The latter gave him an inscrutable look, said nothing, and silently got up to follow. Chu Sui hadn't managed to get any information just now, so he was inevitably frustrated. He spoke to Arno intermittently, "Does Alvin usually have close relationships with anyone?"

Hearing this, Arno looked at him. A dark glint flashed through his blue eyes, too fast to catch. He hesitated before asking, "Are you trying to find out if Major General Alvin has a Male Zerg he fancies?"

A Male Zerg he fancies?

What the hell.

Chu Sui stopped in his tracks at these words and turned to look at Arno. The latter had been following behind him in a humble posture, his eyes lowered, his expression unreadable. Seeing him stop, he also stopped, not taking the initiative to ask anything.

Chu Sui suddenly became interested and raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask?"

Arno's tone was calm. "You seem to like Major General Alvin very much." Female Zergs always hoped for their Male Master's prolonged favor and affection. When their youth faded, they would be replaced by fresher, younger bodies. With Chu Sui acting so out of character, Arno naturally assumed that his novelty had worn off.

For once, Chu Sui's intelligence was online. He carefully sized up Arno and said with great novelty, "You couldn't be jealous, could you?"

Arno's eyelids trembled slightly. "I wouldn't dare."

For a Male Monarch, jealousy was a great taboo.

'If you're jealous, just say so. It's not like I'll get angry,' Chu Sui thought. He circled Arno, examining him carefully for a good while. Once he had his fill of looking, he finally denied it. "I don't like him."

If he really married Alvin, he'd surely die a death more miserable than Wu Dalang's.

Hearing this, Arno subconsciously looked at him. Seeing that Chu Sui's expression didn't seem fake, the hand he had clenched behind his back silently relaxed. "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."

It was now lunch break, and there was hardly anyone in the hallway. Chu Sui deliberately took a step forward. "You misunderstood, and then?"

His eyes were dark and deep, filled with a smile, both spoiled and arrogant. Meeting such a gaze, Arno's heart suddenly skipped a beat. The fingertips that had just relaxed clenched uncontrollably again. He didn't know what to say. "I'm very sorry..."

Chu Sui raised an eyebrow, unconcerned. "If sorry was useful, what would we need police for?"

His old man used to always say that one should marry a virtuous wife. Although he had married a male wife, he was actually more virtuous than a woman. More importantly, he was pleasing to his own eyes. Chu Sui gazed at Arno's slightly pursed lips, which looked even redder against his skin. It felt like a feather was tickling his heart, making it itch terribly. In the end, with his youthful and reckless nature, he boldly pinned him against the wall, leaned in, and kissed him.

"Mm..."

Arno's pupils constricted slightly. He hadn't expected Chu Sui to dare do such a thing in broad daylight. But seeing that no one was around and the location was secluded, the heart that was in his throat finally settled halfway.

Chu Sui's kissing skills were proficient. Before long, Arno's breathing became chaotic. His long eyelashes trembled nonstop as he gently responded to Chu Sui, but fearing they would be discovered by a passing Zerg, he reminded him in a hoarse voice, "Male Master..."

Chu Sui bit his lip lightly. He gave a perfunctory "mm" in response but maintained their position without pulling away. He quietly gazed at Arno, his eyes slowly sweeping over the other's handsome features and high nose. His fingertips caressed his slightly swollen lower lip for a moment before he said out of the blue, "That Alvin isn't as likable as you."

It couldn't be helped. After looking around, it seemed like among the entire Zerg Race, only Arno was pleasing to his eye.

Arno's chest heaved unsteadily. Hearing his words, the hand on Chu Sui's waist couldn't help but tighten. It was a long while before it slowly loosened. He placed a cool kiss on his lips and said in a low voice, "Thank you for liking me."

Chu Sui looked at him with an unreadable expression. "Happy now?"

Hearing this, Arno's body stiffened slightly. He didn't know whether to nod or shake his head. If he said he was happy, it would confirm that he had been jealous just now. But if he said he wasn't happy, what if Chu Sui really wanted to marry Alvin?

Fortunately, Chu Sui didn't make things difficult for him. He asked once and didn't ask again. "Let's go."

Arno straightened his clothes and followed behind him. After a moment of silence, he suddenly called out to him, "Male Master..."

Chu Sui didn't hear clearly. "Hmm?"

Arno's blue eyes looked at him, carrying a hint of simplicity. "At the Military Department's commendation ceremony next month, I will also be promoted to Lieutenant General."

He had already accumulated many military merits, even more than Alvin.
