Jiang Cheng felt that his hands were warm, but when Gu Fei closed his eyes, a very small tear slid down to his fingertips, and he still felt the temperature.
Carrying Gu Fei's emotions, the tiny warmth.
At that moment, he felt as if someone was twisting his heart, and it hurt as he sucked in a breath.
He didn't say anything, and didn't know what else to say. Gu Fei's emotions were always restrained. Even in front of him, he could control them as much as possible.
This was the second time.
The first time he saw Gu Fei lying at the bottom of the black river with his eyes closed.
The second time, he saw a Gu Fei who was just as devastated by separation and longing as he was.
He had nothing more to say. If he opened his mouth, he would definitely cry with Gu Fei.
He couldn't cry now. He couldn't add more longing to Gu Fei. He just wanted to hold Gu Fei and let him feel his existence, alive, warm, in his arms.
Just as he wanted, to have a Gu Fei he could really hold in his arms.
It was very quiet in the bathroom, only the low humming sound of the exhaust fan spinning.
He couldn't hear the sound of Gu Fei crying, but he could hear the heartbeat, Jiang Cheng didn't know if this heartbeat was his own imagination, or real, and didn't know if the heartbeat was Gu Fei's or his own.
He closed his eyes and hugged Gu Fei tightly, clutching Gu Fei's clothes tightly, as if trying to grasp the trickling away of time.
Minute by minute.
Time was a very annoying thing.
Lively yet cruel.
After an unknown amount of time, Gu Fei gently rubbed his shoulder twice: "I'm okay now, do you want to take a bath? Or eat first and come back to take a bath?"
"Ah?" Jiang Cheng hadn't even managed to completely suppress the discomfort churning in his heart yet, and Gu Fei's control over his emotions was simply god-level.
Gu Fei had already gently patted his back: "Do you want to take a bath now?"
"I'll take it when I get back," Jiang Cheng sniffed, "I'll just wash my face for now, anyway I can't sleep without showering before bed at night."
"Okay." Gu Fei let go of him and turned to twist open the faucet.
After splashing his face with water a few times and wiping it dry, when he turned his head, Gu Fei had already returned to his usual look.
"Are you going to take a bath?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"No need, let's take it together tonight," Gu Fei smiled, "A mandarin duck bath."
Jiang Cheng tutted and laughed: "You're the most shameless person I've ever seen in my life."
"It's not even a whole life yet," Gu Fei said, "In the future you'll meet many more people who are the most this and most that."
"You're the most," Jiang Cheng copied his words, "The most handsome, the smartest, the coolest, the cutest, the most talented, the most...reluctant to part with."
"Then I can only say 'ditto'." Gu Fei said.
"Ditto what?" Jiang Cheng's mind was still a little clouded, and didn't react at first.
"Ditto you." Gu Fei said with a laugh and then turned and walked out.
"Get lost!" Jiang Cheng came to his senses and said, "Just ditto, huh? Who are you dittoing?"
Gu Fei laughed for a long time, took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth, then went to stand by the window.
He didn't know what time it was now. Gu Fei was too lazy to take out his phone to check, but it was already dark outside the window.
Looking up, he could see the not very noticeable night, looking down, eyes full of bright lights, blocks upon blocks of lights and flashing neon, near and far.
"What are you looking at?" Jiang Cheng came over and stood next to him.
"Looking at the bustling metropolis." Gu Fei said.
"Well, it is the capital after all." Jiang Cheng said.
"Yeah." Gu Fei smiled, "The steel factory would be pitch black now."
"Right." Jiang Cheng said, "Not even the streetlights would be on."
"Did you come here before when you traveled around by yourself?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"No." Gu Fei shook his head. "If it wasn't for you, I might never have come in my whole life."
"It's not even a whole life yet." Jiang Cheng copied his words again. "In the future we'll go to many more places like this, big cities, small cities, mountains, seasides, beyond those mountains, beyond those seas..."
Jiang Cheng was halfway through speaking when he inexplicably yet smoothly started singing.
"There's a bunch of blue elves..." Gu Fei joined in laughing.
After changing clothes, they were about to go eat.
When they left the room, Jiang Cheng ran over to knock on Pan Zhi's door next door, but no one answered.
"He must not be in the room now." Gu Fei said. "He's definitely waiting in the lobby to scold us."
"What time is it?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Don't dare look at my phone." Gu Fei said. "I feel like Pan Zhi's table might get cancelled. How are we going to face him?"
"Face it head on." Jiang Cheng tutted.
Pan Zhi was sitting in the lobby playing on his phone, bored. As they walked over, he was shamelessly taking selfies holding up his phone.
"Handsome." Jiang Cheng called him.
"F*ck." Pan Zhi's face looked relieved as he stood up, then it changed to hard to describe. "No, aren't you two going at it a bit too eagerly? There's still a long night after dinner, why the urgency for just now?"
"What do you mean?" Jiang Cheng was confused.
"How expensive are the condoms in the room?" Pan Zhi said as he dialed on his phone, "Is it worth it? Wouldn't it be better to go buy a box after eating..."
"F*ck?" Jiang Cheng turned to Gu Fei, very shocked.
"Face it head on." Gu Fei reminded him.
"What face it head on." Jiang Cheng glared back at Pan Zhi. "We didn't..."
"Hey!" Pan Zhi got through on the call. "I made a reservation today... Pan An, right, I'm here now... Don't cancel it! What do you mean cancel, I just called and told you not to cancel it!"
"My image is completely gone." Jiang Cheng said.
"What image does a grandson need in front of his grandfather." Gu Fei said with a laugh, putting his arm around his shoulder.
"Sis!" Pan Zhi suddenly changed his tone. "Sis, don't cancel it, I promise I'll come, it's just ten minutes from here, really, see if you can think of a way to get those guests to wait a little longer for the table, I'm treating very important guests here, it concerns my face..."
Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei stood at the hotel entrance, watching the traffic flow by, waiting for Pan Zhi to use fancy words and persuasion to get the front desk of the restaurant to give them back the table that had been cancelled and was about to be given to walk-in guests.
Two minutes later, Pan Zhi waved his hand: "Hurry up, it's just ahead."
"You got the table back?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Ten more minutes." Pan Zhi looked at the time. "You two really test my social skills."
"We..." Jiang Cheng wanted to say we really didn't use condoms in the room, but thinking about it, he didn't know how else to explain why they had spent so long in the room, so he didn't say anything more.
"Wait for me." Pan Zhi suddenly ran into a flower shop on the side of the road.
When he came out, he was holding a beautifully packaged rose.
"What's that for?" Jiang Cheng looked at him.
"It's not for you two." Pan Zhi said.
"Even if you kneel and beg me I won't want it." Jiang Cheng said.
"Even if you kowtow." Gu Fei said.
"How could someone as stubborn as me kneel and beg you!" Pan Zhi said, then glared at Gu Fei again, "You two really match."
The restaurant wasn't far, it was a Sichuan restaurant, very busy, no wonder the reservation got cancelled as soon as it expired, it was not easy for such a hot restaurant to even accept reservations in the first place.
"How many?" The greeter asked with a smile.
"We have a reservation, under the surname Pan." Pan Zhi said.
